ATOHM GT1-HD - REVIEW
Let me state right off that I do not write negative reviews. Lukewarm yes, but not negative. When I first pulled the subject of this write up, ATOHM’s GT1-HD, out of it’s fabric cover in turn well protected by foam inserts and triple layer cardboard packaging and set them playing, I was a bit surprised. Here was a gorgeous stand–mounted speaker whose sound was both sharp and grating. I had some audio geek buddies over and one of them said, “Please get rid of those.” Not a ringing endorsement. After a few weeks of playback, the GT1-HD lost their aggressive stance, settling down into a slightly retro ’70s vibe. But, I’m getting ahead of myself…
TRIANGLE SIGNATURE DELTA - REVIEW
I consider loudspeakers to be among the most difficult of hi–fi components to create. Not only is a speaker electromechanical, some can also be thought of as a piece of furniture, an object that sits on the floor and dares you to ignore it. Such is the TRIANGLE Signature Delta, a medium sized floor–standing tower that’s designed and built in France.
BOENICKE W5 LOUDSPEAKER - REVIEW
There are some other great sounding speakers in this price range, but none I can think of that combine understated style and outsized sound in such a diminutive package. If you’re more interested in impressing your friends with higher fidelity rather than bling and bloat, the W5 may just be the ticket. Please give them a listen.
VIENNA ACOUSTICS HAYDEN SIGNATURE - REVIEW
There are very few bookshelf speakers that I can recommend which combine a down to earth price and crowd–pleasing performance. From the first moment I got them situated and playing, I was impressed by the level of sheer musicality they delivered. I’ve heard plenty of two–way, stand–mounted loudspeakers at audio shows, from sub $1000 entry level models to wicked spendy examples.
ALLNIC H-10000 OTL/OCL SIGNATURE PHONO-STAGE - REVIEW
The ALLNIC H-10000 OTL/OCL Signature Phono-stage Preamplifier represents the Korean manufacturer Allnic’s latest addition to it’s line up, and also it’s new flagship phono preamp. What makes this new addition quite an eye opener is Allnic’s decision to integrate an OTL/OCL (Output Transformer-Less / Output Capacitor-Less) design into a phono-stage is essentially new territory.
DeVORE FIDELITY Orangutan O/96s - REVIEW
Yeah. What can work with amplification from five measly watts to 400 watts, provide tonal/timbral renderings that harken back to the original venue, and even take you there, grab your heart like it’s sitting on your chest, and leap over tall buildings with a single bound? Okay, skip the building thing. But the rest is spot-on and of course you know the answer: the Orangutan O/96s.
FRANCO SERBLIN ACCORDO ESSENCE - REVIEW
They played beautifully with the single-ended Lyric Ti 100 MkII (20 watts), with an expanded soundstage, beautiful midrange, and soaring highs in my medium-sized room at medium volume. The Air Tight ATC-1 preamplifier/ATM-1 amplifier (36 watts) combo extended low-end weight and gravitas while providing exceptional midrange tone and texture, and nicely extended highs.
