REGA P10 - FOLLOWUP
This is an update of the Rega P10, which was initially reviewed by Andre Marc, a Senior Editor at audiokeyreviews.com. My update and comparison comes as both the Rega P8 and the Rega P10 were in-house… Suffice to say, in every conceivable way, the Rega P10 outperforms the P8, period. There is no wait-and-see moment and no extended observation necessary to immediately understand this truth.
REGA’S P8 TURNTABLE - REVIEW
In my research for a new turntable, I asked Andre Marc, a Senior Editor for AKRMedia (audiokeyreviews.com), for his opinion regarding a new turntable and he immediately suggested the Rega P8 or the P10, should I want to spend the additional monies. He mentioned their ease of setup and operation, as well as their low maintenance, care, and their required ‘feeding’. Being new again to vinyl these were very attractive points.
PSVANE SUMMIT KT88 & 6SN7 TUBES - REVIEW
My recent experience with the PSVANE Summit tubes has led me to consider these tubes, in particular, as a component-level change and not just a tube change. Why? I answer this question in fairly good detail below.
SHANLING ONIX SACD/CD TRANSPORT - REVIEW
It’s a funny thing, that is, when we’ve immersed ourselves in the highly marketed source-of-the-day—streamers—and then return to its predecessor—CD players—and discover rather potent truths, re-found wonders. This would be the second time that such a truth was revealed to me in high-end audio.
GRIMM AUDIO SQM CABLES - REVIEW
I have gone on in some detail regarding those who assume an almost ideological belief in the fact that “there is no difference in the sound of cables, any cables.” And I have heard noted audio manufacturers echo or believe this very same statement. I must admit that the latter revelation was indeed both perplexing and shocking. How could someone in the audio industry, some one who sets about building components with their various microchips, resistors, capacitors, power sources, differing wires, etc., not know? I have pondered long and hard on this, and have arrived at two conclusions.
AUDIENCE FRONTROW RESERVE - REVIEW
The AFRR cables became exceptional arbiters in providing insight far beyond the much more expensive cables that had long been a part of my two-channel reference system. In this respect, they lifted the bar, with regard to overall performance, dismissed price as a consideration, and moved quite a bit beyond their siblings
PSVANE VACUUM TUBES - REVIEW
This was yet another review where I was not prepared for the outcome, which, in the end, was demonstratively better in every respect, when the PSVANE tubes had replaced the prior tubes. Suffice to say, there was no aspect technically or musically that was not improved by the various PSVANE Horizon tubes, as they proved, truly, superb.
