ROGUE AUDIO RP-5 TUBE PREAMPLIFIER - REVIEW
The Rogue RP-5, at $3500, is a tremendous value. The field in that price range is rather crowded for tubed components, but we believe Rogue has a real class leader here. The sonics are outstanding, and the build is off the charts good. What sets the RP-5 apart is the coupling of great sound with a treasure trove of features.
SONORE MICRORENDU 1.5 - REVIEW
The microRendu 1.5 is clearly a superbly transparent streamer, that, when connected to a quality DAC, will make listening to a networked library a breeze. With onboard apps in SonicOrbiter, one can use the 1.5 in a variety of settings…with Roon, HQPlayer, DLNA, Squeezebox Server, etc.
ROON NUCLEUS PLUS - REVIEW
The ROON Nucleus Plus is an always-on, powerful, digital, music server that provides multiple zones of playback, controls multiple devices, enables access to, literally, million of songs or “tracks,” and curates extensive metadata on those millions of songs or “tracks,” or albums. Further, it delivers bit-perfect data for playback, and renders a, relatively, noise-free, pristine, and natural music signal, that your off-the-shelf computer, simply, cannot match.
STAX SRM-700T - REVIEW
The summary effect of the STAX SRM-700T is beguiling musicality, very good control of the bass regions, exceptional detail and resolution, and incredible dimensionality. The mix of these traits contribute to a rather fascinating you-are-there realism, which I have mentioned throughout my notes and in my reviews of, literally, everything STAX!
THE DAN CLARK VOCE - REVIEW
The Dan Clark VOCE is a very good electrostatic headphone. It is midrange forward in terms of both its strength and its presentation and there is definitely gold to be found here! It is, as first mentioned above, reminiscent to me of the Quad ESL-57 and even the Martin Logan CLS, both permanently etched in memory.
THE STAX SR-009S - REVIEW
In truth, the STAX experience has transformed me into a dedicated headphone listener, as several decades of two-channel listening with systems into the low six figures, have never made this kind of a mark on me or revealed the music and its inner workings or summoned the magic to this degree. Never.
BORDER PATROL SE-i DAC -REVIEW
The simplest thing to say about the Border Patrol SE-i DAC is that it never disappointed or failed to amaze. However, to carry on about SE-i DAC is to speak to its whole-cloth coherency, its top to bottom frequency reach (dependent on system configuration/synergy), its natural and wholly transparent rendering of the music, and its beguiling, analog ease across the entirely of the frequency range.
