OVERTURE - TECHNICS

The Overture room had curated a system that brought back found memories of an earlier college system. That system was composed of a Technics integrated and a turntable. It was entry level but it provide countless hours of enjoyment. I spun the black discs, after serial all-nighters preparing for this exam or that and also just for fun and enjoyment. There are many fond memories with Technics.

The system sported the Technics SL-1200 GR2 Turntable ($4,299) in its 4th generation, with the Hana Umami Blue cartridge ($2,500). Accompanying the SL-1200 GR2 were the Technics SU-R1000 stereo integrated amplifier ($9,999.95), complete with multiple “RIAA” curves, the Technics SL-G700M2r Network / Super Audio CD Player ($3,499.99), and the Sonus Faber Sonetto V loudspeakers ($4,995). Clarus Cable handled cabling responsibilities throughout.

Of course aural memory is short, but my earlier system couldn’t touch this system with a 50 foot pole. The SL-1200 GR2 Turntable held down the proceedings and the music was refined, natural, with an analog-ease that immediately dropped one’s shoulders and allowed one to settle into the music. I’m certain that the Technics gear and Sonetto V loudspeakers and the cables were also doing their part and very nicely so.
